Precision engineered RF absorber for X Band applications

XB Series Overview

The 8.0 to 12.0 GHz X-band covers weather radar, military and civilian satellite uplink/downlink, and an increasing share of fixed wireless backhaul and emerging satellite constellations. At these frequencies, wavelengths shrink to 25 to 37 mm, meaning even small enclosure cavities can support resonant modes. Adding a generic broadband absorber often produces disappointing results because broadband formulations sacrifice peak attenuation to span a wider range. The XB Series uses iron-loaded silicone formulated specifically for X-band peak performance, with higher attenuation per unit thickness within the 8 to 12 GHz window than a broadband material would provide.

The XB Series is most commonly deployed in X-band radar systems including weather and air traffic radar, SATCOM uplink and downlink terminals, military communications and electronic warfare platforms, and high-Q microwave assemblies where component density makes coupling and resonance difficult to control through layout alone. It is also used in test and measurement fixtures for X-band characterization work.

The XB Series is available in 0.060″ and 0.072″ thicknesses, both tuned for peak X-band absorption. The two-thickness lineup reflects the tight optimal thickness window at these frequencies. At X-band wavelengths, small thickness variations produce significant performance changes, so the available options are curated rather than parametric. The XB Series is a fixed loading level formulation; customization options include thickness selection and in-house die-cutting for direct integration into satellite, radar, and SATCOM modules.
