The AF Series Broadband Foam 2.000″ thick RF absorber is the thickest standard option in the 3PB Solutions line of carbon-loaded polyurethane foam absorbers, engineered for the lowest-frequency coverage in the line. The homogeneous carbon loading attenuates electromagnetic energy through dielectric loss as the wave passes through the foam volume, providing broadband absorption from 1.0 to 40.0 GHz with no conductive backing required.
At 2.000″ thick with a 100 loading level, this material takes the depth-over-density approach to its limit: -10 dB/in insertion loss at 10 GHz through two full inches of absorbing volume. The light loading gives the front face the closest impedance match to free space in the AF line, minimizing reflection and letting the long path through the material do the work. This is the option for problems at the bottom of the band, from 1 to 4 GHz, where thinner and denser materials reflect too much energy to absorb effectively. For applications with less available depth, the 1.000″ option covers the middle ground, and the 0.250″ option delivers maximum loss per inch for higher frequencies.
